Chanel #5 wants their commercial back. I thought it was a great opening sequence.Fallout 3 called, they'd like their intro back.
Seriously though, awesome first episode. Also, the end credits are a sheer nostalgia-fest.

It's Picard. Nostalgia is its foundation. When a show has to bring back old characters, it's usually a sign of ratings trouble.
Obviously, since this is the last season, that's not an issue.
Still, if the show can't wind down without a huge appeal to nostalgia...
Yeah, I don't really think that applies much here. Nostalgia was always a big component of its appeal in the first place considering our protagonist is a case of bringing back an old character. When a show has to bring back old characters, it's usually a sign of ratings trouble.

But apparently Picard himself wasn't sufficient nostalgia, they had to bring everyone back.Yeah, I don't really think that applies much here. Nostalgia was always a big component of its appeal in the first place considering our protagonist is a case of bringing back an old character.
Well they did slip in that the Titan refit was the new Neo-Constitution Class, so it might as well be TOS Enterprise. But apparently Picard himself wasn't sufficient nostalgia, they had to bring everyone back.
If nostalgia was their primary motivation, they should have had the old crew there from the first episode flying around in the latest Enterprise.
There was nothing wrong with the new crew.
Hard to call at this point, but based on this first episode, they've so far briefly referenced events of the last two seasons but aren't building strongly upon them.I have avoided this show due to reviews. If season three is good, can I skip the first two?

Though, of course, they did not bring Picard back. They just had old evil bitter Pat Stewart as the back ground character in the show. But apparently Picard himself wasn't sufficient nostalgia, they had to bring everyone back.
Yes. By all things great and small skip Picard seasons 1-2 if you are a Star Trek fan. I can't stress how bad they are, and how much they are not Star Trek. Season 3 is a reboot, "just forget seasons 1-2" and really is a Next Generation Reunion.I have avoided this show due to reviews. If season three is good, can I skip the first two?
That's not 100% anymore, there is talk of either another season or a spin off.
