WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Regardless of some people's thoughts on whether this was justified or not, using the Pinkertons is just outright a gross move for a corporation to take. Regardless of decision from the recipient to cooperate, if we don't see some sort of apology from WotC on this, just going to take my wallet elsewhere. LevelUp and plenty of 3rd party stuff along with homebrew, don't need to worry about OneD&D.

MLA is the strangest spelling of APA I've ever seen.
APA is so ugly and unprofessional looking to my eyes. Chicago Manual of Style for life, yo!

Themselves. Someone from the company should have knocked on the door and tried to talk to them to resolve it.
I sure as heck wouldn't send an employee to do that. Unless perhaps I had my own in house detectives or something. Better to turn that over to the company I hired to do the investigating.

What Mike Mearls Can Teach Us About HR Departments

I think I half agree with you - maybe it would have been best to send both a PR person and security people. In the same way that letting game designers do the work of an HR team ended going poorly for everyone involved, the security people would need to track the youtube guy down and be there in case things went off the rails, the PR person would be there to put the best spin on things. I mean, they don't know what to expect - they I assume don't know anything about him, and he lives in a state with permissive firearms laws and a 'stand your ground' law.

Regardless of some people's thoughts on whether this was justified or not, using the Pinkertons is just outright a gross move for a corporation to take.
The company that uncovered and thwarted an assassination plot against Abraham Lincoln before his inauguration? That spied for the Union during the Civil War? That hired the first female private detective? That's "a gross move?"

Either their history is relevant, or it's not. I have a lot of trouble seeing why any of this should reflect on Pinkerton, positively or negatively, in 2023; but if it does matter, then account for all of their history, not just the bad parts. If it doesn't, then they're just another private security firm.

That's "a gross move?"

Yes, it's a gross move. Doing some good things doesn't remove all the absolutely horrible things they have done and what they represent in this country. I'm not telling other people what to do with their money, but I will not support a company who utilizes an organization like that if they don't make it abundantly clear that they've made a mistake and wont' do so again.
