Picard Season 3

And he's Chekov's son, apparently.
Indeed. Although the dates seem off for that - Pavel Chekov was born in 2245, Picard is set right at the turn of the 25th century (2402 for season 3, I think). It feels like they should have inserted a couple of generations in there.

(That said, it's not quite stated in the episode that he's his son, so they could always clarify that later if they really wanted.)

Don’t people live much longer? That’s about 150 years. Guess if Pavel had a kid at 75 (if they live to 120 or so) and Anton is also 75, it could work.

Then again Kirk was complaining about being old at about 50 IIRC.

It's not impossible. Indeed, James Doohan's youngest child was born when he was 80, so even in our world it's possible.

But it still feels 'off' - most of the generational gaps we've seen in Trek (Kirk in the Kelvin universe, Sulu in Generations (and Beyond), Beverley and Wesley, and the La Forge family) have been approximately what we're used to.

When was Encounter at Farpoint set? McCoy was in that. He must have been well over 100.

The petition for Star Trek Legacy is almost to 40,000 and still going strong.

I saw a podcast that suggested that its very likely all this we're not doing STL unless fans make us do it, is all an act as it was for SNWs, this Youtuber's source who used to work at Paramount in marketing, said SNWs was always intended to be a series, and the playing coy about it to get fans to push for it, was just brilliant marketing. I think it actually makes sense, no matter what Terry Matalas says, Paramount isn't going to just let you turn a season of a show into a back door pilot for a seperate series if they don't intend to do it, it just doesn't make sense.

So season 2 of Discovery was in a sense the back door pilot both for SNWs, but also a function reboot for DIS into 31st Century DIS and Picard Season 3 was the backdoor pilot for Star Trek Legacy.

To expand on his theory what if seasons 1 & 2 were bait for Sir Patrick Stewart's ego as an actor, but they knew it wouldn't work well, and that once drawn in, he'd have gone too far not to do a TNG reunion/set up for Star Trek Legacy in Picard Season 3.

I'm about three episodes from the end of Season 3. It has been getting steadily better. Fun seeing the old crew back together. The writing is still very Star Trek (implausible coincidences, plans, etc.), but it has much more of the right vibe. It's so much better than Season 2 it isn't funny.
