[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [closed but waitlist is available]

I’m taking the Gambler background from Acquisitions’ Incorporated.

I used to be a pretty average person. (With a 10, 12, 9, 9, 8, 10 stat spread after the Human bump to all stats, lol). But I gambled a lot and always lost any money I ever made. Got drunk in a bar when I met someone named Sam. He offered me a drinking game. Bet me he could drink more than me. I accepted, of course! This was in Luskan.

I don’t remember much past the second or third swig, but when I woke up I was on a ship and it was pulling in to a port up near Ten Towns. They threw me off the ship, complaining about something I’d done to wreck something or other. I don’t remember but they sure did.

Found a note in my pocket from Sam. He said thanks for the great time, and as promised, I can have his hat, which was on a stint hanging from my neck. I just have to remember to keep my end of the bargain, the note said.

I put on the hat and my brain explodes. Not literally. But I suddenly have access to all kinds of info. Much of it magical, a lot of it historical, but it’s just oodles and oodles. I suddenly know magical tricks and short cuts that it takes Wizards decades to master.

Of course, knowledge and skill are two different things, but the more I practice, the better I get.

But that note is always in the back of my mind, because darned if I know what he promised, and what “my part of the bargain” means.

Looking over my house rules, I'm thinking to keep things flowing in play-by-post it may be better to just use RAW passive Perception (rather than my house rule for perception saving throws). That'll cut down on the dice rolling.

Auril is taking preventive measures. These are not bad stats per se, but with two extreme lows and no highs its kinda weak. Not like the brave ones though:)

Yeah, I don’t wanna hear it, lol.

Edit: that said, I am perfectly content with my character as long as I can have my Cowboy Hat of Intellect.

4D6.HIGH(3) = [5, 6, 5, 2] = 16
4D6.HIGH(3) = [3, 6, 5, 6] = 17
4D6.HIGH(3) = [3, 2, 5, 6] = 14
4D6.HIGH(3) = [5, 5, 5, 5] = 15
4D6.HIGH(3) = [3, 3, 4, 1] = 10
4D6.HIGH(3) = [4, 4, 3, 1] = 11

So that'll be:

Strength 10, Dexterity 15, Constitution, 14, Intelligence 17, Wisdom 11, and Charisma 16.

I'll probably go with the Backstory Variant Human with the Worldly Background, bringing those up to:

Strength 11, Dexterity 16, Constitution 15, Intelligence 18, Wisdom 12, and Charisma 17.

I haven't decided on which Background to pick yet though.
