The whole recent collapse of Reddit has me thinking a lot about where new DMs might go to get help with their games. The /r/dmacademy was a fantastic subreddit for this sort of thing. Hundreds of new DMs would go there, ask questions, and get answers to their sometimes common problems. As a guy who focuses on helping GMs run great games, I'm always interested in seeing where people are having trouble and what sorts of advice or tools can help them out.

If you're a new DM, I'm very interested to hear where you got your help (recognizing the self-selection of EN World posters).

If you know of other players where new DMs go to get help, I'm all ears.
Matt Colville’s videos. Alexandrian blog. SlyFlourish blog, videos, and Return of the Lazy DM.

As an aside, I loved your dad’s writing. And thank you for yours. It’s helped a lot.

I don't think there is any one source. There are lots of good sources and I think it just depends how a new DM goes looking for help. Some folks just use Google and go whereever. Others go to their favorite social media source like Reddit, or Facebook etc.
A small set who are also using or looking to use Fantasy Grounds go to the FG Academy and use the resources and free classes there.
When folks ask me, I refer to a post I put together a long time ago, and still update on occasion. GM Advice

I know nothing of the business model and requirements of Reddit. But remember that Musk took some serious debt to buy Twitter. There it is less hubris, more financial necessity.
Can't it be both?

I'm sure Twitter is financially a bit strapped about now . . . but Musk has enough hubris to power the world and get us all off fossil fuels.

The big one is the DM Academy which had a lot of new DMs asking questions and getting good advice. Right now it’s still blacked out.
Right, I don't follow that one so wouldn't have noticed. I think people will still be looking at other subreddits though, I don't think Reddit will stop being a source for people with DM questions.
