I think the canary will be what wild shape looks like. If it's 2014 with errata, pact magic lives. If it's templates redone, pact magic is probably toast.


(Obviously, it's possible to split the difference, but the whole "sparks joy" test doesn't fill me with confidence either will get heavy revision).

Man this is a Sophie choice for me. I love pact magic but hate the “go through the MM” wild shape.

Personally, I’ll be relieved if Exhaustion survives untouched from 2014. It’s supposed to be harsh.

Is it supposed to be selectively harsh? Because with 2014 version, warriors get screwed by it while casters don't care.

I also don't play druids anymore because if the MM/DDB-scraping wildshape rules (and other reasons).

I can't stand major class mechanics recharging on a 1-hour short rest. But if Pact Magic recharging was changed to be a shorter ritual with limited uses, or diminishing returns, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Presumably they’ll go back to being an option for post-20th-level advancement though, which will mean 90% of groups never use them.

to be fair... 90% of the groups would never use them at 20 too...

It’s not an excuse, it’s how UA has worked for the past decade.

i see where you are coming from but a long standing excuse is still an excuse.

If in 2003 I told you "I run late because my clocks are always off" and every time we meet and I am late I repeat that, in 2023 if you call it an excuse I can't go back and say "nah, I have been saying it since 2003"

Here's hoping it's because they've gone back to the drawing board, having had their bad idea punted out of the game.

Hmmm....

You 2 slots of the highest level.
Every time you cast, you gain a slot of 1 level lower.

So you cast 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
...Can't say I like it.

I could see a sorcerer going the other way though. Start the day with level 1 spells, then work your way up to higher level until you burn out.

I think with the exception of weapon mastery, nothing from packet 5 is being touched upon by packet 6. The remaining five classes will be in packet 7 in 1-2 months.
