D&D 5E Why no announcement for a Wizard's Presents 2023 for August yet?

Wizards Direct also includes Magic the Gathering and the other Wizards of the Coast properties.

Just because D&D books are known for a few months shouldn't mean that the thing that moves their more valuable property is cancelled.

Yeah, Magic will certainly reveal the 2024 slate in August, question is will D&D too...?

They likely will, just to get a few of the MtG fans eyeballs on D&D. In fact that would be a great time for a promotional video about how 2024 is the 50th anniversary, "a great time to try the world's greatest roleplaying game with refined rules to make playing easier"

I mean, we already know 4 books coming out next year: a big Adventure Campaign Contra Vecna and the 3 core books. There will probavly be something more...but not necessarily much more.

WotC makes more money with M:tG game, but D&D as multimedia franchise is potentially more valious because this was designed as tool to create lots of different stories.

No guarantee that D&D will repeat that again: they never did it before 2022, amd there was a major leadership change within the past year on the D&D side.

Alternatively, they can announce a Durect style experience very shortly before it drops.

Yes but before Wizard's Presents last year, they had Magic Presents for years, they just combined it with D&D last year.

Yet no news of Magic Presents either, very unusual.

Are we still getting the "revisited" setting in 2024? Or is that going to be the setting chapter in the new DMG?
I think any longterm hints from Wonninger at this point have to be a big question nark: another Setting might make sense, say Greyhawk or the Forgotten Realms. I do expect something up their sleeves...

OK, just checked: last, WotC Presents was on 8/18...and they announced it on 8/15, three days earlier. So even if we get a repeat, I would expect maybe we'll hear about it a few days earlier, say ~8/14, and the announcements drop ~8/17. Long term announcements are not how these events are handled in this day and age. See also, Nintendo Directs

Oh, hey, check that out: Bigby us released on Tuesday, 8/15. Wouldn't be the first time that WotC cranked the marketing engine right after a book hits shelves. Also, sandwiched right between Commander Master's and Eldraine on the MtG product schedule, same relative positioning as past years Magic Presents.
