Anybody using Threads yet?

Not ever having an account, I never used Twitter much except when I came across an embedded tweet somewhere and clicked though to read a thread, etc. I also occasionally used it as a central source of urgent notifications (eg, when we had a week-long freeze and the power and water went out, Twitter was how I kept tabs on the weather and utilities). Now, of course, non-account holders are more or less locked out of Twitter, so it's become mostly worthless to me.

I'd like to see people move to Threads just to see Twitter's toxic influence decline, and to use it similarly to how I used to be able to use Twitter (see threads, search users and topics, view profiles, etc). Unfortunately, Threads appears to be app-only (?) with no desktop version. So until I can see it on a laptop without use of an app, it's also basically useless to me, even as far as just interacting with embeds.

They're apparently working on a desktop version, which will be at Threads.net. It being app-only is annoying to me, too.
The sooner that happens, the awesomer it will be, assuming it's as visible as the old Twitter was.
I honestly hope that there's a mass migration of creators (including authors, artists, gamers, journalists, etc) away from Twitter. We non-account holders would be delighted to continue seeing them on more visible platforms.

Twitter was good for us international folks, get to talk with friends and fans outside the west. I looked at threads and what it tracks and was like yeesh ...

I'll be sure to tell that to the authors I follow and interact with.

As for moving over to Threads, I'll wait a little bit longer before adding it.
I added it right away to mostly get the closest thing to my twitter names (personal and work - I didn't have instagram before). The lack of a feed with mostly just my follows and in chronological order is what's stopping me from checking it much.

There was a big drop in Twitter usage over the weekends, according to a lot of internet tracking organizations. Unless Threads completely craps the bed, I think we're finally close to a mass migration. (It's not just to Threads, of course: Much of Black Twitter has moved over to Spill during the same period, and a lot of techies have already moved over to Mastodon.)

I'm still happy not having any social media except this site, since Wizards stopped caring what customers thought in freeform.

Mastodon signups and traffic has picked up. Keeping me busy.

Signups to ENWorlds mastodon has gone up a lot recently thanks to SlyFlourish and others mentioning it.
I haven't checked Mastadon out yet.....I'm ready to leave Twitter, at some point. Everyone I follow is on Threads.....but I just can't take it yet.
