D&D General BG3 Massive Spoiler Thread

There were a lot of people complaining that he was too hard of a fight. As I said, I can only assume they rushed to the inn too quickly and were under-leveled. I literally escaped the fight with three characters uninjured lol.
I was at least level 5, possibly level 6.

I suppose if you skipped through act 1 you might hit him at level 4.

The first time I did, the winged horrors absolutely bum rushed her. Before I could blink she was down and out and taken away.

Second play through, trashed them. Spirit guardians I think is a big factor here, it might prevent the horrors from ganging up on isobel. I will say things are A LOT happier if you save her.
IIRC, one of the patches that came out recently also buffed Isobel's health in that fight so she doesn't go down quite as easily as before.

That is what happened to me as well. Isobel got bum rushed by the winged horrors and died. I was not prepared for that fight. I save scummed and tried again. The second time Gale cast resilient sphere around Marcus. Lae'zel, Shadowheart (spirit guardians) and I ripped the winged horrors to shreds.

Is there a way to stop the duergar and Nere from killing the gnomes without having a huge battle? I am extremely light on AOE stuff (no Gale) and just can't content with all those damn dark dwarves.

There's no way to save that one gnome who's killed in Nere's cutscene, but for the rest, your best bet is to do some clearing out of the surrounding Duergar before you free Nere.

There's a vantage point on top of a tall ladder next to the blocked door. My tactic was to get the party up on top of it and kick things off by booting the sentry off the ledge, then park a Spike Growth and Cloud of Daggers at the foot of the ladder. Even without that, the ladder can act as a good bottleneck. Just beware letting too many opponents get to melee range, as the AI is also entirely capable of using the "kick characters off the high spot" tactic.

I wrecked him and his demons. I was level 6 I think. I went full bore though thinking it was a tougher fight than it was. They priestess room is a ruined mess after the fireball etc I layer down.

By the time I let Nero out all the Duegar were dead.

Nero died quick thanks to the Silencing dagger I found earlier.

So, I finally got around to the Marcus/Isobel fight (don't judge, I've been very enjoyably taking my time with my main group and having fun leveling secondary groups like my all-halfling crew). I've read about how it's such a hard encounter, and how it's almost impossible to keep Isobel out of Marcus' hands, and... huh, I took out Marcus in the second round, with Gale's fireballs and Shadowheart being a walking murder blender with spirit guardians taking care of most of the rest of his minions.... Isobel took a single hit the entire fight that was easily cured. I can only guess that too many people were rushing to the inn seriously under-leveled from the reports about the fight I had read lol...
It's a little rocket tag in my experience. I've seen Marcus take Isobel from full health to kidnapped in a single round thanks to a crit. I've also burned Marcus down in a single round, which seems to be a consistently reliable tactic.
