Between his experience with underdark smelly lairs and already numb nasal sensors from the egg area, Moradins champion ignores the smell and solidly impacts the ghoul jumping over him.

The ghoul is twisted in the air from Maur's strike but somehow still manages to land on its feet.

Quinn's lashes out at the ghoul as well, but as it twists in the air after Maur hits it, the spiked weapon only lashes through the air above Maur's head.

Caerth steps back from the hasted ghoul and fires once with his bow. The undead creature dodges the arrow. The half-orc druid drops his bow and takes thundershadow off his back. Hopefully the staff of The Hermit will protect him from these undead foes.

Quinn lashes out at the ghoul who bit him, once, twice, thrice, and a fourth time. The ghoul evades each strike from the gladiator-knight's spiked chain. "Careful Maur, they are very fast!"

 

The vicious ghouls counter. The one who bit Quinn once already bites at him twice and then claws at him twice. One of its claws rakes across Quinn's shoulder. The other ghoul turns on Maur, biting and clawing. It too manages to claw the dwarf champion once on Maur's chest.

The ghoul next to Litrix and Angus bites and claws at both of them, but isn't able to bypass their defenses.

Litrix, listening his own advice, slides behind the ghoul and strikes hard, his sword resounding in the area, pure tone lifting hearts of the nearby companions.

He underestimated he inertia of his quickened movement and the next two strikes are barely more than wild swings.

The Ghouls were too fast to hit and Phar didn't want to risk hitting anyone with area attacks. He decided he'd best join Aureus before the ghouls chose him as a tasty meal. He pulled a scroll from his belt and recited the arcane words. As the scroll turned to ashes, Phar drew up his bow and flew into the air, and into the Great Hall.


Draw out a scroll of Fly and cast it. Caster level 9

The ground next to the sinkhole shifts slightly under Litrix's feet as he attacks the ghoul. It isn't enough of a hindrance to ruin his first sword strike, but it plays a factor in the two wild swings. The ground crumbles under Litrix's feet and he falls backwards into the sinkhole.

Maur slides next to the ghoul attacking him so he can use Quinn as a distraction. Plates of his armor slide and lock, hardening his shell. Calling upon the might of Moradin, he channels one of the spells into the hammer, holy inspiration guiding the hammer better and stronger toward the end of combat.

And it helps immensely, as his low-bass chant starts to reverberate from inside his armor and the hammer shines with holy light, the strikes of the warhammer look more like the hits from battering ram than mortal wielded weapon.

OOC: sorry for the complicated rolls, the essence is:
attacking flanked ghoul with 35 and 27 for 21 and 28 damage
if it is NOT killed, it is critted for 81
if first two kill it, next one is critted for 63 (no flanking)

A moment before Phar takes out the scroll, he watches as Litrix falls backwards into the sinkhole after hitting the ghoul once. Angus manages to hit the ghoul once with his sword. The centaur swings his shield angrily at the ghoul that called him 'horse flesh', and the shield slams the undead creature's head back. He readjusts his stance and manages to bring his sword around again to hit the first ghoul, although it is only a glancing blow.

Maur's hammer slams into the ghoul once, twice. The creature doesn't go down. He swings the hammer a third time and cracks the undead's chest wide open. While the blow would have been even more devastating versus and living foe, the dwarven' champion's powerful attack destroys the ghoul anyway.

The undead troglodyte claws at Quinn and hits the gladiator-knight once. It then bites Quinn with its jaws and tries to wrap itself around the burly fighter in order to sink its teeth in deeper.

The other undead reptilian shifts its position and does the same to Maur. It barely manages to rake its claws on Maur's arms but then surprises the dwarf champion by biting down hard on Maur's shoulder. It tries to wrap itself around the holy warrior of Moradin and sink its teeth in deeper.

The vicious ghoul eyeing Angus's flank bites at the centaur, then again. It manages to sink its teeth in once. it then slashes out with its claws. One claw slices a wound on Angus's humanoid torso.

Aureus steadies herself in the air and fires her bow. She aims at both of the ghouls near Angus, but she just can't the creatures, even with her height advantage.
