Theologian did not like it. They also didn’t like Planescape despite it being well received so they call it a disappointment. What about Spelljammer was a disaster, in a way that Hasbro would care about?

we do not really have official figures to go by, but if the last game I made sold 5M copies and I essentially make a bigger sequel, I am not really expecting to sell less. Prudence says I should still turn a profit when I do, but that is not the same as expecting it.From what little I understand, a turn based CRPG hitting 5 million sales is FANTASTIC for the genre. Most never come anywhere near that.
20 million was probably more than they expected however.we do not really have official figures to go by, but if the last game I made sold 5M copies and I essentially make a bigger sequel, I am not really expecting to sell less. I agree it is a surprise success, but saying no one, including Larian, expected even 2M is patently wrong.
yes, I am pretty sure I said just that at least three times in this thread, Including in the post you quoted20 million was probably more than they expected however.
Spelljammer was an embarrassment of a release. It was wholly half-baked- straight copy+paste blocks of text from 2e books, monsters that can't use their own combos, and unfinished guides on making your SJ worlds.Theologian did not like it. They also didn’t like Planescape despite it being well received so they call it a disappointment.
It's low page-count clearly hurt sales. Not a disaster, but enough that they increased it significantly for Planescape. What about Spelljammer was a disaster, in a way that Hasbro would care about?
Mod Note:Theologian did not like it. They also didn’t like Planescape despite it being well received so they call it a disappointment.
You are presuming that lore matters. A “lore disaster “ to me is a rocking product no longer chained to dead authors. To each his own I guess.
Yeah, no.their previous game, pretty much the forerunner for BG3, sold 5M copies on Steam... and that might be lowballing it, the same site has BG3 sales at about half of what I am seeing on another
