D&D General BG3 Massive Spoiler Thread

So I found Viconia. I've seen a lot of gruff online about how different she is from BG1-2. Lack of accent aside.

I hear Saravok is the same way.

Here is what I think, i could be wrong

The canon group of BG1 is: Gorion's Ward, Jaheria, Khalied, Imoen, Minsc, and Dinaheir. While you do encounter many many MANY other NPCs who can join your party doesn't mean they actually did.

Perhaps you saved Vic but never encountered her again until BG2. So she never learned to "chill out" because she was still alone and more suseptable to Shar's desires.

Not much needs to be said about Saravok in BG1.

Come BG2, its the same thing. You can find Vic and send her on her way. Again alone and walking furhter down the path of Shar.

Saravok, sure you can rescue him but have a falling out and he goes his own way. He never really changes during Throne of Bhaal. He never really grows or changes and it seems fair that he would go back to old habits.

I can't really speak for Saravok though as I havent encounted him in 3 yet.

But Vicc, yeah it kind of hurts. She was the main NPC I romanced in the original games but playing her romance all the way out doesn't really end well for her. So yeah, more than likely The Ward sends her on her way and she becomes a real female dog.

Which again makes since for The Ward who canon was either a TN or NG character who probably wouldn't put up with the evil attitudes of Vic and Sar.

So been testing a fighter into eldritch knight. Currently 6/1 EK/Wizard. Wife's playing a light cleric.

One week in newbies. Most strategies from ttrpg transfer through but there's new ones. Basic throwing builds thanks tavern brawler. Level makes a good jumper build.

Been testing the other NPCs and changing their classed.

Humans seem weak outside of things like devil sight warlocks (be a half elf) Gith seem good at everything along with wood elves.

Started some new characters to test lvl 1-4. I suspect a shirt rest party early with a life cleric in camp is the easiest option.

Multiplayer Question: Newbie friends (new to D&D, played Divinty and Solasta) want to play BG3 on Xbox.

Is it possible for players and their characters to come in and out for different sessions? Or if we create 3 characters together, do we all need to be there for every session to bring it forward?

If some folks can miss sometimes, is it better for them to play custom characters or the usual suspects? As in, if I want to play only sometimes, should make a random PC, or play Karlach or Wyl? If I’m not online, would it block them from using Karlach, let’s say?

Unrelated, has anyone ever bought back an NPC from Withers? I haven’t tried that.

Withers you pay him 200 coons and he raises whoever. Works on hirelings as well.

I can understand the common feeling of a discordant tone shift after Moonrise/Nightsong then into Act3/Rivington.

The tone shift might be like grinding gears in a normal modern CRPG, but I’ve had TTRPG games have big tone shifts as destinations change or we hit new tiers of play. In that way, it felt very D&D.

Seems very Ravenloft. I'm up to Shars temple in act 2 but restarted.

My wife just finished her first run-through. It took over 200 hours.

I feel a lot better about my choice to use the mod that lets you have all the followers at the same time, because I don't have the time to play it more than once and I want to experience all the bickering the first time through. (In fact, if I were Larian, I would put that in as an option.)
