D&D (2024) New Dungeon Master's Guide Cover Features Venger (From the D&D Cartoons)

The cover of the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide has been unveiled.... in the Mirror, a mainstream newspaper in the UK.

The cover art features villains (as opposed to the heroes on the Player's Handbook cover revealed last week), with skeletons in the foreground, the classic villains Skylla and Warduke in the mid ground, and then Venger from the 1980s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon looming in the background, and right at the back lurks a dracolich.

The DMG will be released November 12th, 2024.

If that's all you're listening to, you need to be expanding your horizons. If you want it close to D&D themed there's Wind Rose, an Italian power folk metal band that leans heavy on dwarf themed songs (both Tolkien and Warhammer varieties). If you want more straight metal I've been greatly enjoying Lovebites and Nemophila, both all-women Japanese metal bands with some amazing music.
I'm only on page 8 of this thread, but I appreciate the hell out of you for naming three great bands that I love the hell out of!

Also, Wind Rose's cover of "Diggy Diggy Hole" is a masterpiece!

Fine for what it is, decent looking mooks, lieutenants, and BBEG; but I wish it had less pose and more action.
As fan service, though, it seems a missed opportunity, imo. It might have been neat, for example, to get a reimaging of (what to me is) a pretty iconic image of Venger on his nightmare:

, maybe with Dungeon Master* down below returning fire or something. (Preferably with the requisite Saturday morning "bleerewblweerewblew" sound effect.)

* I mean, wat? No Dungeon Master on the DMG?
Missed opportunity is no Nightmare for the Venger toy and that that toyline died on the vine. I loved the Animated waves and even the movie ones were nice.

I mean, to me in 2014, he was. I had no idea who he was at the time, I hadn't read Tomof Horrora yet and Tomb of Annhilation was a few years out. If WotC plays their cards right, Vwnger can be iconic in a few years.
I am sure to people just picking this up that will be the take on Venger, Warduke and ESPECIALLY Scylla since they aren't as in the public eye either.
