D&D (2024) New Dungeon Master's Guide Cover Features Venger (From the D&D Cartoons)

The cover of the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide has been unveiled.... in the Mirror, a mainstream newspaper in the UK.

The cover art features villains (as opposed to the heroes on the Player's Handbook cover revealed last week), with skeletons in the foreground, the classic villains Skylla and Warduke in the mid ground, and then Venger from the 1980s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon looming in the background, and right at the back lurks a dracolich.

The DMG will be released November 12th, 2024.

Y'know, I'd just about kill for dust jackets of the 1E revised covers for all my 5E core books,

I'f we are getting dust jackets i would go with the basic cover for the PHB and the Expert cover for the DMG.

Oooh, D&D book covers in different styles from different eras. That's an untapped etsy market if I ever heard one.

No final art, I don't liked the blurry style either, which seems to be de rigueur at the moment. The world is blurry enough at 50, I don't need art imitating life in that way. Mumble grumble

That's really how I felt about the late 1e and 2e covers—no real backgrounds, just a swirling mass of colors. But then, I've never liked Easley's work.

Yup, the three core books will have a $50 MSRP. I reckon they expect to make margin through volume, since they will likely sell 20 times as many PHBs or DMGs as any Campaign book.

Right. That pretty much seals the deal. I will be preordering the 5.24e books.

To be honest, I've never really cared for the D&D cartoon. I actually found it rather lame. But I still like this cover quite a bit.

A fair point and I actually loved the toys as a kid. I had a couple, but a friend of mine had plenty from the line...

It was super-duper lame, especially with all the intrusive moral editorializing that parental groups shoved in there. Eric deserved better.

Nerd Immersion discussing the DMG cover, with a bonus tidbit at the end, WotC is going to be giving out early copies of the 1D&D PHB to Youtubers next week so they can gave their content ready for early access launch in August. He doesn't know yet what will be covered by NDA and what he can show yet.
