Good news, an official English translation has actually been announced, with the first volume releasing this October and I am very excited.
I think someone in my MTG group chat mentioned that. Are they releasing with promo cards in each volume?

I still don't understand the eOne sale. It happened essentially right before the movie came out, and seemed to deflate their whole plan to break into the big leagues, MCU-style. And signal a lack of confidence in their overall TV/movie strategy. Is there something I'm missing, as far as why they felt the need to do it?
Streaming was hot, and then it was not. Box office is dying. For a min, it looked like a great idea, but not so much now. Hasbro stock has taken a kick in the nuts.

But why sell right before the movie release, and as all these other deals were freshly in place? Only thing I can imagine is if they got the sense that the overall push wasn't going to work.

The box office thing makes me so sad, but I think we're really looking at cinema rolling it's death saving throws right now.

I wonder if D&D:HAT would have been a hit had it dropped half a decade ago. Great reviews, lack luster performance. Now we're seeing the same thing with the new Mad Max. It seems that just about everyone who's seen it loved it.. But again it's not putting up numbers.

When I was a younger, single lad, pre-covid I was going to the theater weekly, and even then, I'd regularly find myself sharing a screen with just half a dozen other people. It wasn't even uncommon to be alone in the theater. I feel like it's only gotten worse post-covid.

Yeah it's going to be interesting to see what happens with the movie industry. The industry was built on multiple sources of income for a movie for such a long time (Box office first run, Home media/VOD, premium cable channel, basic cable channels, streaming). Right now the only thing that doesn't seem to be on a downward trend with a customer base is streaming, and that likely isn't priced nearly high enough for financials to make sense for big studios.

A deal worth hundreds of millions of dollars to sell eOne was likely in the works for 6 months or more. That's not the type of thing that typically happens overnight.
