I think some of these misinterpret what people actually said. The "mind control" was for powers like Bloody Path, which had on top beholders biting themselves and other nonsense. Any justification for what happened in-game was after the roll was done. Exploration rules ARE lacking, like it or not.Lol nice.
Also:
* Fighters are spellcasters in 4e (forget what the extreme differences in total build generates, how that references keyword tech, and what the actual play produces)!
* Martial Mind Control is so unrealistic...nothing like that happens ever IRL!
* Warlords shout hands back on (even though no D&D outside of Swords of Sharpness take hands off!) and inspirational replenishing of reserves, fortitude, purpose, ability to carry on is bunk (doesn't happen ever anywhere!)!
* You can't set things on fire in D&D 4e (forget Keyword Fire and rules on Targets and stunting and Say Yes!)!
* Player-authored Quests are not a thing (forget the actual text on the subject and the Say Yes appoach of the game)!
* Fail Forward is EZMode nonsense and that bunk will never become featured in future TTRPGs (lawl?)!
* Skill Challenges don't feature perpetual situation-state change (even though the book's instruction expressly demands them) and are just an exercise in fiction-irrelevant dice rolling where Fighters are doing push-ups to convince kings!
* Noncombat Conflict Resolution frameworks (Skill Challenges) that structures and organizes noncombat scene framing & resolution are just totally artifacts of gamey nonsense (pay no attention to Hit Points and Turn-Based Combat!)
* Forced Movement never happens in actual martial combat (where warriors constantly feint, circle, attack angles, and change levels to impose or compel their opposition to move/duck/sprawl to deal with the attack or feigned attack!)...its gamey nonsense!
Concerning skill challenges, I presume most people criticized that they didn't work, after several attempts to fix them.
Do you think yours sound like a mature reaction to criticism?Who is bitter?
