D&D General Boomer/GenX 5e? (+)

Why not get a little avant garde with it? What does Gen X combined with Gen Alpha D&D look like? Or what about the Silent Generation + Millennials?

My favorite D&D ruleset is one that is built based off the attitudes of pre-Colombian Mesoamericans combined with specifically "Elder" Gen Z.

As a Millennial, I don't know what else to suggest.
I can tell you that a lot of WWII generation people love D&D. I mean, very few are left who can still play at this point of course. My parents loved RPGs. Mom is still around and capable of playing, though she's now definitely a "lean on the table to keep the rules straight" sort. Old people can play fine and have a lot of imagination.

Boomers are people in their 60s and 70s. Have you tried teaching new stuff to your grandpa? It can be a bit tedious. Old people are not really into new stuff, generally speaking. GenX are in their mid 40s and 50s. 5e has enough nostalgia vibes from 2ed, so they are kind of covered on that aspect.
My dad is turning 80 this month and I taught him to play D&D about eight years ago. He is constantly beating the drum for more rules-lite games as he loves the roleplaying and adventure, but cannot be bothered with high levels of crunch. If he had started decades ago, he might have been down for it, but I suspect he'd still believe that life is too short to spend 15 minutes looking up rules at the table.

My father used to play, but he named all his characters things like Elrond, Frodo, Bilbo, etc. This is funny, but it is not a joke. He really named them that.

I see people are talking about how to get Millennials to appreciate D&D. What about Baby Boomers and GenXers, though? How would you get them to appreciate all the wonderful things 5e offers? I mean it seems 5e is designed for the younger folks anyhow, especially the upcoming not-a-new-edition edition, why do we even need to make it appeal to Millennials and GenZers?

So anyhow what would you say to a Baby Boomer or GenXer to get them to give 5e a fair shake?

Well I am a gen x er. I started playing D&D in 1980 and played a ton of AD&D in the 80s. I think 5E is the best edition, I love it.

I don't think the new edition will be an improvement overall though.

Boomers are mostly septuagenarians or older (the oldest among them are octogenarians!) The typical "Karens" (I hear "Kevin" is a male equivalent) are 40-something to 50-something--in other words, Gen X is what produced the Karen, not the Baby Boom.

There are lots of Millennial 40-somethings.
