That Beholder looks Huge, as in Beholders have maybe 7 or 8 feet in diameter and therefore large. But this one looks like its diameter is more than twice Minsc's height whose someone that's at least 6 feet tall.

Based on what the artist said, I think Boo is also in the picture. No answer on who the caster is. Which makes sense, Boo always goes for the eye!

I think if it literally said "Boo" with a red arrow like that on the cover, it would become a must-buy for me.

Very nice action cover, but it confuses me: is that beholder an ally to the Players or an enemy the Players have not taken seriously yet?

Boss monsters are a thing.

Honestly, people: it is art that is supposed to be evocative and inspiring. It doesn't have to map 1:1 to the stat block.

Might be artistic license. Might be that Beholders got the "expanded family" treatment they teased with vampires. Who's to say, until the actual MM comes out.

So far, this is my favorite of the non-special covers (and I might take this one over the DMG special cover).

Definitely the best of the non-FLGS covers. That said, I'm getting the FLGS covers for the other two, so I'll do the same here next year. (And pick up Kobold Press' Monster Vault in the interim.)
