How many RPG dice do you own?

How many RPG dice do you own?

The only proper response is: Way too many!

To be honest, I have no idea. Bags of them are all over the place! At least 100, probably way more. Do the D6s count that I bought for Warhammer (40k), but could easily be used in one of the Warhammer RPGs?

RPG dice,... only one set.
Warhammer D6s probably 200. (20-40 in multiple colors, white, black, red, green, blue, yellow purple and orange).

I don't know exactly but I'd say about 100+. For a while I had a habit of special ordering a new set of dice from Chessex when I started a new campaign. This usually consisted of (5) d4, (6) d6, (5) d8, (2) d10, (1) d12, and (5) d20. Id say I have at least seven sets, so with a few random loose dice that's probably closer to 200. I have a few d30's but Im not really sure why. I used to use it scare the players by picking it up and telling them if rolled a 30 someone was going to die. I have a metal set of Marlboro d6s that I unexpectedly got in the mail around my birthday about 20 years ago. I lost one and have no idea where it went as I don't ever recall taking them out of the hose or even my game room, and they were so heavy that I rarely if ever used them, so who knows. Someone probably stole it at worst, or it just ended up in someone else's dice bag at best.

Over 100 but thats because I have numerous colors of D6 blocks from chessex for Battletech.

Gonna take the soapbox for a moment and lay down some curmudgeon on y'all. I am very tired of fancy dice. Little ones you can only pick up with two fingers, or giant one that need two hands. Ones with intricate designs that are harder to read than a gen xers tribal tattoo. Especially, ones that use symbols instead of the 6 or 1. Which is it? The six? or the one??? Sorry folks put all these right in the trash and get solid color dice with clearly contrasting pips for ease of table reading. You can now have your soap box back. /rant

I had a player that bought a set of those tiny amethyst dice and couldn't read them because the numbers were so small. He'd have to pick them up, hold them to his face and stare at them for 20 seconds before figuring out what the roll was. I told him either ditch them and bring a normal set next game or don't come at all.

Thats exactly what im talking about. Terrible. Call of Cthulhu dice are often like this too. Give you the authentic experience as you go insane from trying to read the dice.

I had another player that had trouble reading standard Chessex dice so I bought him a set of these jumbo dice. They were bigger with a very easily read numbers without being ridiculously large.

I sort of agree.. I don't see much point in spending double digit dollars (Or sometimes triple) on fancy metal or gemstone dice that I'd be afraid to use.

With that said I do like the d6s with designs on them.. I've found that a lot of game stores will sell them with their logos and if I'm in a store that does I'll buy at least four of them.

Just trying to count in my head.. I think I have 11 full sets of rpg dice.. I don't know if I should count them but I have two 12d6 sets that I use for Magic The Gathering.. So that's 101 right there.. And then all sorts of extra odds and ends.. Mostly d6s.. Not many weird dice but I do have a d30.

A couple of specialty d20s. One with a little dog/cat paw where the 20 should be, and then for our first christmas together my GF got me a d20 with the Windrunner emblem from The Stormlight Archives on the 20 face. I use those two in my Wyll, Blade of Frontiers Commander Deck. It's not technically an RPG, but it feels pretty adjacent.

So more than 100.. Probably less than 150.

Pound of Chessex and 5-6 other sets - however many that comes out to.

Playing online only the last 4 years has dampened my passion for dice.

I'm missing face to face, the rattle of dice, the breaking of bread together. But my players are spread out over about 60 miles now and we haven't worked for the same company in over a decade.

This is one of the reasons I like this DIY dice creation era. Getting dice that are bigger with the kind of font you want is easier than ever.

All you old fogies who can't read your dice -- go to Etsy or, if you don't want to do that, check out Black Oak Workshop, which also specializes in bigger-than-usual dice.
