My estimation this morning was 100 to 200, so I voted 100+.

Doing a bit of inventory here to see how accurate that estimation is:
  • 2 sets of Forbidden Lands dice, each consisting of 12 dice -> 24
  • 2 sets of Broken Compass dice, each consistent of 9 dice -> 18
  • 2 sets of DCC dice, each consisting of 14 dice -> 28
  • 1 set of DCC Lankhmar rat-snake dice -> 8
  • 1 set of Critical Role dice (from the first campaign) -> 7
  • 1 white d6 with a special symbol (a gift from a friend) -> 1
  • 12 sets of plain Chessex dice (6 black, 6 white) -> 84
  • 12 sets of marble Chessex dice (3 black, 3 white, 3 blue, 3 green) -> 84
  • 5 sets of marble Chessex dice with missing dice (3 green, 2 red, both missing a d6) -> 33
  • 9 "stray" d10 (4 black, 5 white) -> 9
  • 2 sets of unknown origin with 12 d6 each (1 black, 1 white) -> 24
In total: 320. So actually a lot more than I estimated - I completely forgot about the marble dice (which probably means, I should sell them at some point). Of all these dice, probably the plain Chessex dice (or rather a subset of 4 black sets and 4 white sets that fits into a medium-sized dice bag) see most use.

I had quite some more, especially special dice for Free League games, but parted with them a few years back and only kept the Forbidden Lands sets (as @payn already mentioned, while they often looked great, readability unfortunately wasn't that good).

I guessed 25-50.

I have a couple sets of RPG dice for D&D I've had for a long time, a set of d10s I got for a vampire game about a decade ago, a tube of d6s from a train game that I use for D&D lightning bolts and such, a big set of plush dice from when my son was real young, and a couple D&D sets I got as gifts.

Oh god, I just realized I have a drawer full of novelty dice I've been given as gifts. That's another 15 or 20. (They're all fun, but impractical, like the LED dice.)

That kind of advice just leads to more piles of dice! And at what size (and material) do these things become deadly weapons? I've got a couple of metal dice that are already unsafe to use, a glass table shatters and anything wood just gets dented... Not to mention, don't leave them around angry players/DMs!
