I don't say it is absolutely no 5.5e.
I say it is not absolutely 5.5e.

A fine difference. I just object people who don't let other opinions count as equally valid.

I personally like Revised 5e (or 5e Revised).

I hadn't seen 5e24 until recently, but I find I like it a lot more than 5.5. Especially when I want to compare quotes from the 5e14 and 5e24 PHB, DMG, and MM, it's now easy to specify. And I doubt we'll make it 75 more years without getting to 6e.

Then read the posts I responded to.

They all sounded: "I call it 5.5e, because it is." which I heavily reject.

This calling other opinions invalid becaise reasons.
I have supported my opinion with actual facts. 3e to 3.5 changed things that a character created with 3.0 rules has elements on their character sheet that are no longer existing in 3.5.
In 5e 2024 it is the opposite. In my opinion the former is a heavier disruption as the latter (which is not unlike a rules expansion).

So while the are a lot of revisions in 2024 5e, 5.0 characters can still exist unchanged with the very rare exception, while 3.0 characters in a 3.5e cannot.

This is why in my opinion, with 3.5 as a reference point 5.5 is not warranted.

If you go back to 1e to 2e, as a reference point, 5.5 can be justified in some way. I still think it is rather 5.24 if you want to have a more precise numbering.

Also: if you go to the Interview with Crawford a few weeks ago, he told us that 3.5 is the edition where they went from "DM adjucates" to "the position of the battlemap" decides. From guidelines to hard rules.
This in my opinion id the biggest system change of all. Power went from DM into players hands with all positive and negative implications (mkre negative if you ask me). We have no such break in 5e to 5.5 or however you call it.
