New rules for tools. Cool.
(Actually about gear, tools, and crafting.) Very short -- this is a tease rather than a preview.

OVERVIEW

• Every tool has something to do with the Utilize action.
  • "Hey, what's a Utilize action?" (a question not asked)
• Artisans tools each have a list of things you can craft.
• Allows you to make weapons, armor, potions of healing, spell scrolls (spell scrolls on adventuring gear list).
• Crafting other magic things in DMG
• Clarification for how ability scores interact with tools.
• Adventuring gear table -- everything on the table has entry explaining it.
• New Equipment: e.g. cartographer's tool now have maps in gear section (with game benefit).

This was more a tease and not actual rules (but I can't wait for the cavalcade of how broken or useless these rules are), but in principal, this is a good addition to 5e.

I may be strange - but I am very excited by this one. I've never much liked how mundane equipment works in 5e. This sounds like a good start.

Barely any of the videos have actually spoken of much in the way of rules - or at least not specifics. I'm sure you're right that we'll have complaints, though!

-So presumably you can craft ammunition for various ranged weapons, if your DM tracks things like how many arrows/bullets/bolts used.
-So is there going to be rules on the Spyglass the most expensive adventuring gear item in the PHB?
-I guess they didn't really have maps before as something you could buy?
-It looks like we have the group pictures for Dwarves now along with the ones they've showed already of Halflings and Gnomes.
-Like the new picture of the Wizard and her cat familiar

What I would love is things like a master craftsman being able to make weapons with different mastery or even basic properties. Finally give us a finesse place but make it have to be custom made, or a cleaving great sword. Rules for exotic materials for weapons and armor would be great. More alchemical items and bacis rules for how to craft better versions so at higher levels using something like that is still worth your time.

It's an example of using a Pistol as a focus to cast Magic Missile, but she's an Artificer Battle Smith which isn't in the book.

Jeepers couldn't give us one example, like woodworking tools, what they can do, dc check. They really don't want to tell people too much.

I really hope that the new crafting rules don't allow players to effectively freely pick the magic items they want. There's too many magic items which break things to allow players to choose items off the complete list.
