Re: the Adventuring Gear list. I am hoping that there is a cost given for the Brass brazier required for Find Familiar, or that the requirement is removed.

(Of course this is the easiest thing on earth to remove at the table; and I know of no one who actually requires it to summon a Familiar. But it bugs me that they specify its need, and then don't support it. The inconsistency was still in the UA playtest, when we last saw the spell.)

Also, just like in MTG, a lot of wands and magic implements get stylized to look like guns these days. The recent Cowboy Magic set had a lot of ... these aren't guns, but they're practically guns.

I don't think that we'll have to worry about that. They might make it so that it's possible for PCs to build magic items, but I'm sure that it'll be under DM purview. We'll see.
Is that gut feeling based on examples like how the smithy allowed players to crank out +1 ammo & +1 weapons or one of the many other select & build bastion output examples?

To me it is a gut feeling based on how restricted Artificer ability to creat magical items are. It sounds like you will be able to craft low level potions and scrolls with out too much worry but anything else will be up to dm discretion. (I personally would love masterwork or even +1 being able to be crafted without to much fuss eventually)

Yea... I kinda want to give them optimism based on the note that the dmg will have more in depth rules for advanced crafting∆, but ten years of Lucy's football being printed across multiple books is a long time for a mere "want" and it's not like we are seeing much of anything that doesn't fit on a character sheet.

∆or whatever the wording was

Any mention of creating new spells?
No. Use an object is now the utilize action though. Video is like 5min iirc

I really hope that the new crafting rules don't allow players to effectively freely pick the magic items they want. There's too many magic items which break things to allow players to choose items off the complete list.
Most likely if they do have rules for creating higher-end magic items (which is pretty much all the "breaky" ones that I can think of), part of what will be needed materials-wise will be [DM's fiat items], which would let you control that. It's a very simple and easy way to do it without making the whole system DM's fiat or the like.
