D&D (2024) D&D Pre-orders; this is sad

You responded to Stalker0's comment of:

"There is no indicator from this one image that you are being forced to buy a subscription to dnd beyond or anything of the sort."

by saying:

"you need a subscription for the early access."

To me that implied you were equating subscriptions with being "forced."
you are not forced to buy the books at all, subscription or no subscription. All I meant was that without a subscription you get no early access even if you preorder

glad I was mistaken! Now I just hope I actually got the bundle! I ordered all three separately, but when I click on the bundle it says I already own the books - so I assume that means it worked?!
good question, hope WotC is that 'generous'. If you look at the three books separately, they have the dice and frames and whatever, but the art book and VTT dragon only come with the bundle. I guess there is no way to cancel and buy the bundle instead to make sure...

I challenge anyone to find a customer whose only reason to purchase a book from WotC is so they can change the color of frame around their ability scores.
no one said it is the only reason to buy the book, but it can be an incentive to preorder it...

I believe my wife contacted you, but I am planning to make the trip up to your shop once the physical bundle is available. Can I preorder that from you or reserve it in some way? Or do I just need to wait?
I'm super old-school. You tell me you want something, and I do whatever I can to get it for you. In this case, she did let me know that you plan to visit (and get the books), so I am aware (and looking forward to it)!

lol yikes.

This is right up there with another comment I saw on this forum about "a world of Post Literacy is good cuz youtube."

You all can enjoy having nothing and being happy about it, I'll be on my property, relaxing with the people I enjoy, and the things no corp can take away because well..I own them.
I wouldn't have nothing. I'd just rent stuff.

At what point did renting become verboten in American society?

It isnt, if you are happy renting, go nuts.
I do! I rent some stuff and I pay subscriptions for some stuff, while owning a lot of stuff as well. I have no problem whatsoever with doing any of that. And if that means I don't have access to some thing I was subscribing to once the subscription ends... I knew that going in and I was fine with it.

Like I said... having to own everything I have is overrated. The stuff that I do own is great and I'm glad that I do... but the stuff that I have that is only temporary is perfectly fine as well. And I'll make do once it is gone.

It’s not verboten - quite the contrary, it’s becoming the norm in more areas than any time before.

And as long as you’re okay with the cost of the rental and as long as that access is granted to you, rent away.
