But think I'll go with a "Thumble." A mutant abomination resembling either/both their parents that will grow no taller -at full growth/adult age- than a foot and a half tall.

Almost certain to not make it past their adolescent years without becoming fox/weasel/hawk/owl/bobcat/snake (or any larger predator) food.
