If Acrobatics and Sleight of Hand are 2 skills Athletics and Weightlifting could be.
I prefer Athletics absorbs "Acrobatics".

Heh, it really bothers me to separate Jumping (Athletics) from "landing" (Acrobatics) and Climbing (Athletics) from "balancing (Acrobatics).

Anyone who thinks it is possible to climb without balancing has never actually climbed in reallife.

Then Strength itself is athletically agile and includes every kind of body coordination (gross motor skill), including balancing up a vertical cliff.

Meanwhile Dexterity with Sleight is hand coordination (fine motor skill) relating to sensitive precision.

For motor skills, I am looking at:
• Athletics (mobility, agility)
• Weightlifting (brute force)
• Sleight (cautious, sensitive, precision)

Note, Stealth, Finesse Weapon, and Missile Weapon are specialized uses of Sleight.

It is probably ok to use Dexterity Sleight for balancing, such as walking on ice, but it would be at a crawling speed, whereas Athletics can move at normal speed while maintaining balance. Using Sleight instead of Athletics would be a kind of "finesse" use of Dexterity.

It being Olympic season you can really just slot species into certain sports

Orcs as the Athletics Species
Goliaths as the Weightlifting Species
Halfling as the Artistic Gymnastics err... Acrobatics Species
?? the ...
Gymnastics requires extreme strength. Just look at their bodies. Athletics.

Even Synchronized Swimming is swimming, Athletics.

Any "body" sport is Athletics.

What sport is Sleight of Hand? Table Tennis?
For Sleight sports: Sharpshooting.

Which race gets break dancing? 🤦‍♂️

You are correct, which is stronger proof stat lifting/carrying in 5e is straight strength and should provide a stat bonus. ;)
Sure

The problem is Strength in combat if handled as Strength in carrying would make the Strong species have STR bonus too high to not high the bar on the "required" STR to make a STR based PC.

It's essentially recreating the problems TCOE and 5.5e sought to solve.

Goliaths would have STR so high that no other species would feel "viable" as a STR PC.
Same with any other species that has a ability score that matches their lore without an additional altering trait which changes the formula.

I prefer Athletics absorbs "Acrobatics".
If Acrobatics and Sleight of Hand are 2 skills Athletics and Weightlifting could be.
I might be recalling something from a previous edition but have athletics absorbs acrobatics but it leaves tumble in its place as a dex skill specifically dedicated to being able to do things like dodge things and know how to break your fall properly, none of this ‘i make the jump with acrobatics because i do a flip in the middle’

Athletics then gets split into what I’m going to call might and stamina, might is short burst feats of power like lifting a boulder, putting on a burst of speed, smashing a gate or breaking out of a hold, stamina is used for extended exertion such as running, swimming, hanging from a ledge or carrying weights.

The best sources of lore for both Aasimar and Tieflings IMO come from PF1's Blood of Angels and Blood of Fiends. Both books are world-specific, but they do provide a lot of useful information which could be adapted to other settings.
