D&D General Bob World Builder Recreates WOTC's "Do You Like Me?" Survey!

The same people who insist they will never give Wotc their money again over the OGL whatever are the same people who will complain about layoffs when the affects of the boycotting hits the bean counters.
Where does it end?
Boycotts don't do diddly squat. No, that's wrong. They almost always earn the company even more money as the other side shows support by buying a lot extra.

I'm not boycotting. I'm not giving a company that broke trust with me my money. There's a difference. A subtle, but important difference.

If a person doesn't want to get involved with some company for perceived issues... I do not see the point in waiting for "an apology" just so they can then feel good about buying stuff from them again. That just feels like someone trying to pat themselves on the back for "standing up" for something... when in truth they are ready and able to jump at the chance to get the thing they want as soon as they feel things have been "righted" in their mind.

To me... if you're going to bother doing that, have the guts to go all-in-- cut them off entirely, no ifs, ands, or buts. Don't wait for the apology, just move on.
They have already apologized. An apology won't do it. Nor do I ever expect them to do it. They seem more interested in creating more ill will than fixing the ill will they've created. 🤷‍♂️

human nature I guess, we talk about the things we think about / are important to us, and every thread will have some tangents. I see people jumping to WotC’s defense every time too, guess we both have to live with it

You won’t see me bringing the OGL up much, if I do it already was brought up before by someone else and I feel I have to set the record straight.
It's not just human nature. Threads(and their subjects) do not exist in a vacuum. Often the primary subject in another thread will touch on some of the negative(or positive) things that WotC has done. When the primary subject does that, it's absolutely fine to talk about the negative(or positive) things.

I'm trying to raise an anti-WOTC army but I never get any sign ups!
Don't look at me to sign up!

While I won't purchase any products from them unless they earn back my trust(and they won't, because corporation), I'm not anti-WotC. If they do something good I'll acknowledge and praise it.

Thinking about things I’m not interested in would in fact mean that I am interested.
I believe he was referring to you not knowing what you are talking about. You really should know, because you did intimate that it's our fault if they lay people off because of "boycotting." Not that we're actually boycotting.

There will be people who like WotC who will buy D&D 2024.

There will be people who dislike WotC who won't buy D&D 2024.

There will be people who dislike WotC who will buy D&D 2024.

There will be people who like WotC who won't buy D&D 2024.

There will be people who don't care about one or both between WotC and D&D 2024.

There will be many positions other than the above who will and won't buy D&D 2024.

I think that it's fine if people choose to buy the books, and I think that it's fine if people choose not to buy the books.

People have their reasons for doing so. Let them be.

Good luck in your crusade to fall back in love with Wotc. I hope it works out for you.

Man, 'D&D 2024' is super clunky even visually.

There's no crusade. I've already moved on because I don't expect them to ever do it. As I said a few times now, I've already bought A5E(Level Up). It's better designed than 5.5e and more fun.

Are a significant portion of those who are still cheesed off currently sending the signal that the remaining ill-will can be fixed by their action? Because I've seen little or no such sentiment. Spending effort to fix something that cannot be fixed would be a waste of time and energy.

If some folks position themselves as a loss, they are probably going to be written off as a loss. Indeed, if it is more costly to earn back the goodwill than is apt to come back from that cohort as customers, why should they bother to pursue that avenue?
