Kinda, yeah, if the alternative is erasing that part of history. A thing consists of everything that is part of it's history, not just the parts you like (or the parts you don't like).
I guess we have a lot of popular characters that need to be retried. Superman, Bugs Bunny, Conan, Chthulu, get rid of all of them. Only new characters from now on.
 








Then why bother dredging up its proper nouns?

Why not? It gives people a general idea of the style of module it's going to be. Companies reuse the same name all the time, cover songs and redone movies can be better than the original. Why should a decades old module that only a handful of people even know about not be redone? It's not some sacred holy text.
