Exactly. Let's never reboot a comic book. Let's never cover an existing song, adapt a book to a play or movie, remake a movie, remaster a video game, or make a new edition of a game. New ideas only.

Rather, let's not pretend the previous versions didn't exist.

Kinda, yeah, if the alternative is erasing that part of history. A thing consists of everything that is part of it's history, not just the parts you like (or the parts you don't like).

I guess we have a lot of popular characters that need to be retried. Superman, Bugs Bunny, Conan, Chthulu, get rid of all of them. Only new characters from now on.

IMO people who recycle should try harder to make it look original. That means not using the same names to increase sales (and for no other reason).

I disagree. If you want to play the old module or learn from it, get the old module. In the meantime other than a handful of boomers, very few people even know the old module exists.

Thats the funny part. If its 'unknown if not for old gatekeepers' then why try and leverage it at all?

There are only so many themes for a module, I don't see an issue with recycling an old one.

it’s not even that different from LMoP, a base, a wilderness, and caves / mines. You can make a lot of adventures out of those components

Why not? It gives people a general idea of the style of module it's going to be. Companies reuse the same name all the time, cover songs and redone movies can be better than the original. Why should a decades old module that only a handful of people even know about not be redone? It's not some sacred holy text.
