D&D 5E Goodman Games Next Crowdfunding Project: Terror of the Underdeep

With 5 unfilled crowdfunding projects currently, I hope they fulfill a few before starting another. Feels a lot less like "crowdfunding" and more like "preorders".
That's what Crowdfunders feel like for a lot of small-but-not-indie companies. It probably lets them spin more plates at once than their budget would otherwise allow, so I guess that part of the crowdfunding IS necessary.

Rather than running an actual preorder through their online store where consumers would have protections?
Exactly. If you open up preorders for something, you're going to have to deliver.
If you do a crowdfunder and it fails to fund, then you're probably not putting out that product. It's a way to gauge interest.

Opening preorders and canceling them is a pretty poor way of discovering interest in a product.
Which isn't a thing Goodman is accused of doing, to my knowledge.

They're a small outfit that honor their commitments, even if it sometimes takes them longer than we (or probably they) would like.

The biggest, most ambitious stuff is the stuff that takes a long time to get to market. In contrast, I got the Magic and Monsters of Lankhmar book super-fast.

If the wait for the long stuff bothers you, don't back it. I have cooled it with a lot of my crowdfunding of super-ambitious stuff and thus am unbothered by the crazy delays on Black God's Kiss (not Goodman, FWIW) and the like.

So I struggle with the really big adventures.

This says there are several of them. Does that mean you can just do a portion and have it conclude the 8-16 rodeo?
