Explain Alien Covenant to me!

Yeah, that scene is weird. Is it meant to be really humid and thus the "rain" is just lots of moisture dripping down or what?
I think so. Many years ago, I visited the Vicksburg National Memorial Park in Mississipi. In the early twentieth centuries, the various states who had soldiers there during the Civil War built monuments, the most elaborate of which was placed by Illinois.

It's a marble structure and there's hole at the top of the dome exposing the sky. I don't know how familiar you are with Mississippi, but the weather there is hot and humid as it was when I visited the park. When I walked into the memorial, I was shocked to find that it was raining inside. The warm outside air mingled with marble cooled air of the interior and the memorial had its own little weather system. The floor directly under the hole was very wet and the water was coming down as it might in a very light rain.

That is to say, I think in Alien it's just a matter of condensation. Maybe something is malfunctioning, but it's a malfunction Brett doesn't seem concerned about.

That's really interesting! I recently read Grant Moves South, a book from the 60s about Grant's campaigns in the west. It ends with the siege of Vicksburg. I'd like to go there someday.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Might have something to do with whatever it is they're hauling.

My assumption was always that it was a symptom of the xeno crawling around in spaces it shouldn't and it knocked loose or disconnected a dehumidifier or something.
Maybe, except that Brett doesn't seem at all surprised / bothered by it. In fact, he takes a moment to let the water splash on his face.
