D&D (2024) 2024 Player’s Handbook is ‘Fastest Selling D&D Book Ever’

It’s only officially been out for a week, but according to Wizards of the Coast, the new Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook has already surpassed Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything to become the fastest selling D&D book ever—in the entire 50-year history of the game. It has sold three times as many copies as the 2014 version of the books did at launch.

Not only that, the 2024 Player’s Handbook was the biggest print run in D&D’s history.

In a press release today, WotC claims more than 85 million D&D fans worldwide, and says that D&D Beyond, the game’s official online platform, has over 18 million users.

Where's the "WotC is not doing a good job promoting the new PHB" comment?

It seems they've done at least an ok job of promoting it given this.
I can't speak to the promoting either way, but they don't have too much to do with one-another. DnD is waaay more popular now than it was in 2014, and many of these new players are going to buy the new PHB. This is, as I think someone else said in here, "Press release math."

Let's be fair, that's anecdotal also. If we're going to insist on accurate data, then we need to use actual data. Otherwise we might as well make a youtube channel with big writing saying 'D&D DISASTER! THE WORST EVER DISASTER YET! MORE DISASTER THAN LAST KEYWORD DISASTER! THE INTERNET HAS EXPLODED OVER IT! SO DISASTER EVERYBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT DISASTER KEYWORD WORST EVER D&D EXPLODE DISASTER! EXPLODE!"

Yes, there's literally a popular youtube channel where that's the titles of like the last 100 videos. Usually it's like there was a font change in the index that nobody noticed or something.
in the off chance anyone thinks this is a joke... or even an exaggeration it is not... some how they end up on my FYP on tic tock and my suggested on youtube cause I watch both pro and anti wotc/ D&D things...

Since you said somehow which implies to me you legitimately don't know how, the algorithm YouTube uses to suggest content is based on what you've watched. It doesn't have to be pro or anti either, I pretty much only watch "How Its Played" and "Arcane Mark" PF videos and get all kinds of TTRPG content suggested as a result. You can somewhat manage your feed by the 3 little dots near the video and selecting either "Don't recommend channel" or "Not interested", though I still have things pop back up over time so YMMV.

And to anyone not familiar, the particular video linked is probably one of if not the worst offender of making garbage ragebait so have at it if you don't have enough anger in your life!

Thank you... in the years i have been on Youtube I never knew I could do the 'don't recomment' that is super useful and will save me from getting a bunch of things I don't want...
