New Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide Art and Details Revealed

The marketing cycle for the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide is underway. Wizards of the Coast has released the first video and accompanying article previewing the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide. Wizards has already told fans what's actually in the new 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide, so there's not much in terms of actual new details. The video/article revealed that the Bastion system got another look from designers after its initial Unearthed Arcana playtest, that there will be a DM's Toolkit for everything from "alignment to traps," now arranged in alphabetical order, and that there will be 400 "new and improved" magic items.

The 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide will also be the home of rules for crafting magic items and a new Greyhawk campaign setting guide, with a focus on showcasing how Greyhawk can be customized or be used as a model for homemade campaign settings. Finally, the Dungeon Master's Guide will contain a lore glossary and a full chapter about D&D cosmology, the latter of which helps to drive home the idea of the D&D multiverse.

While much of this information was already known, the video and article did show off a LOT of new art, some of which can be found below:

Whoever compared this to the blue dress is on-point. I did look up the artist and their commentary on it:

So this suggests that they're arguing with one-another, the halfling is pointing at the dragonborn. As to whether it actually looks like that ... I can see where both sides are coming from.

Yes. As is clear in the picture itself.
you might as well tell me the picture shows a red gnome and a green troll dancing in a forest. I just do not see it.

Can they squabble? Sure. Can the halfling look and point at the dragonborn? No, not at all

It is a clever optical illusion. The actual picture shows a Tiger Tank on the outskirts of Bastogne, while a hidden American paratrooper is aiming a bazooka.

Here's a crazy idea:

Sometimes people view art differently, and interpret the same piece of art in a variety of ways!

Anyways, the correct interpretation of the piece is that the Dragonborn rolled a 15 on his Stealth check so no one can see him.
No joke, I bet this is next to the Stealth section in the rules chapter.

Halfling: you see that giant ruby in the forehead of that huge idol?
Dragonborn: That is not a ruby
Good point. Maybe I'll register on that site and ask the artist lol. I think the intent is that the halfling is looking at the Dragonborn but yeah it's very weird sight lines etc.

I have no idea how you see that or how in that case the dragonborn can possibly be looking at the halfling without his face being turned to the left completely rather than basically facing us as it is now
You have the halfling pointing with her wrist. You're ignoring the fact that if you zoom in the eyes are clearly pointing as far to her left as they can go towards the dragonborn. The figures are more or less side by side as far as I can tell.

So if you zoom in to the pixel level of the picture and draw lines from her actual pupils and trace the halfling's finger you get
Halfling pointing.png

Which, zooming out again, it's obvious the halfling is looking and pointing at the dragonborn.

Compare that you your image where the halfling has to be looking out the white of her eyes to make it work. People don't point with their wrist.

Anyway, this is one of the sillier arguments I've seen and it doesn't really matter. The party is arguing instead of paying attention to the environment is the whole point.
