I can understand that argument when in many shows it does feel like people are "shoe-horning women" into shows just to score diversity points.

But a show about a coven of witches, I mean its like the original girl power story:) Throwing in more men would be the equivalent "shoe-horn" in my opinion.

Overall, I think this is on the higher end of disney+ shows, and if it sticks the landing might actually be the best. In terms of "legitimate" issues with the show:

1) Agatha has started to take a back seat in her own show which has been a notable trend in a lot of marvel stuff lately. This is really starting to feel like the Billy Maximoff origin story more than agatha's show, but we will see how it ends up. But Agatha isn't really doing much on the show tbh, she betrays, she acts crazy periodically and snarky, but other than getting the party started isn't driving any plot or interactions.

2) People really take killing and nearly getting killed in this show in stride. They hear Rio plot their murders and they are simply like "we are watching you". Agatha kills one of the sisters and they just kind of move on from it. Billy almost kills several of them and other than a few choice words later on they pretty much seem cool with him (and he shows very little remorse).

That said, Lilia does lampshade this a bit, as she said something about "we're witches" in response to some of that. Is murder and betrayal just part of the witch life? In that case, it's more believable.

3) Considering how dangerous and deadly the road is supposed to be, they take it extremely casually at times. Like almost goofy, especially Agatha who in theory "should know better". That said, this isn't that off brand for Marvel, the idea of quipping jokes while beating up bad guys is just part of the style so this may be an unfair critique

Yeah, my only real critique of the show is that it could have pushed the horror a bit more rather than serving up a very Disney PG version of Witchery where things like death and murder are taken in their stride and being "bad" is fun as long as youre not wicked.

And considering this is a Wandavision spinoff I think it really is "the Billy Maximoff origin story" rather than a standalone Agatha story

Just once I’d like to see if Marvel could do a TV show that is complete in itself, and not essentially just set up for a future movie. The series is almost over and my spouse keeps asking me why we are still watching it. I don’t have a good answer.

If you don’t have a good answer, why ARE you watching it? I like it so I am watching it. But there are too many people in fandom who either hate watch things they don’t like or watch them because of FOMO or something. My recommendation is to just stop doing so.

For what it’s worth, last week’s episode had the 2nd highest rating for a Marvel TV show ever.

Personally, I think the show is more fantasy/comedy than it is horror. Given, I prefer fantasy/comedy to horror, so I’m OK with that.

Agatha is still the best part of the show for me, and I don’t think the Wiccan side plot has taken anything away from that. For me at least, it has only added to the show.

Yeah I agree about the Wiccan plot and that Kathryn Hahn has proven to be a great actor in this (I dont know her from much else), but her role last week was a secondary one, rather than a driver as she has been in previous episodes.
I'm good with fantasy/comedy, its my favourite genre, but I do prefer that Witchery be more grim and gritty rather than lite, for instance Pratchetts Granny Weatherwax is a particularly great version of comedy/fantasy witch while staying suitably grit-filled

Momentum is a powerful factor, and I agree just "staying in the loop" on the entirety of the MCU is a reason I do watch some of what I do.

The break point for me was Echo, I just could not get into that show, and I actually stopped. We will see if I suffer remorse later on!

Marvel Studios is officially set to deliver Episode 8 and Episode 9 of Agatha All Along on the same day, Wednesday, October 30. This marks the first time any MCU show has had more than one episode drop for its finale date.

They almost certainly wanted them as a one-two punch and before Halloween.
