D&D (2024) Why aren't you using 5e 2024?

I do not see the choice for:
Because I'm waiting for the books to come out (all of them).
Because I'm getting the books for Christmas
Because I'm in the middle of a campaign and waiting for a new one to convert.

Same. I know lots of people are converting their campaigns mid-stream, but I am waiting until all three books are released and my current Cyberpunk Red campaigns come to a close. My hope also is that with more time, I won't be the only one that's done the homework to learn the new mechanics.

The expiration date on my 2014 books hasn't come up yet. I don't need replacement core books, I'm just looking for more new content.

It's certainly not the D&D 5e they released in 2014. It's definitely still a 5e game though.

The changes to 2024 D&D are more than enough for me to be perfectly comfortable calling it 5.5. Heck, considering the 1e to 2e shift as a baseline for edition change, 6e would have been an acceptable moniker too.

This, I already do not like how powerful characters are in 2014, and 2024 just makes that worse. It might be more balanced, but it is balanced up, I much rather run something less OP, it certainly is no incentive to switching

I'm currently running Dragonbane and enjoying it.
I already have Level Up - which I haven't gotten to try yet. (I'd like to at least try that before buying into another 5E revision.)
I don't begrudge a corporation doing "corporation-stuff" - but I'd rather support smaller companies. (It's the same idea of preferring to go to a local restaurant than a chain place.)
