D&D General New Fallbacks Novel coming

A new Fallbacks novel has been posted on Penguin Random House.

SPOILER NOTE: Description below has spoilers for end of the first Fallbacks book.

“ABOUT DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: THE FALLBACKS: DEALING WITH DRAGONS
The Fallbacks return for another adventure in Dungeons & Dragons’ Forgotten Realms!

The Fallbacks might not be Faerun’s first choice for saving the day, but if the money’s right they’ll get the job done. In this ragtag band of adventurers, each member plays a vital role: Tess the disciplined elven thief; Anson the courageous fighter; Lark the cunning bard; Baldric the wily cleric; Cazrin the inquisitive wizard; and Uggie, their pet monster who eats garbage. Squint a little and they’re the heroes Faerun needs.

Fresh off a harrowing journey into the infinite dungeon of Undermountain and the defeat of a powerful undead lich (with the help of a giant hungry worm or two), the adventurers are now a proven and dedicated team, ready for a new adventure which will take them to strange new realms.”

That is a terrible synopsis for a sequel, spends too much time going over what was established in last novel and says almost NOTHING ABOUT THIS NOVEL, like we know they will go to strange new Realms, does that mean they will finally leave the swordcoast for other regions of Faerun like the Old Empires, Unapproachable East, the Shining South? Kara Tur? Or is that not strange enough, could be planes?

That is just nothing it get excitable about, no new info.

Certainly seems like maybe a placeholder synopsis because they don’t know what the selling point is yet, maybe cause the novel isn’t finished? Idk how far out from print they need to be done.

Well, we know that The Fallbacks were actually made by the game designers for the purpose of media cross-overs, they even have an entry in the DMG Lore Glossary.

The first novel had them at odds with a Lich who was working with the Red Wizards of Thay, though they did not directly face the Red Wizards.

We were told that one of the big game stories coming after the Core books would be focused on the Red Wizards. And it is likely that this will be an Adventure in the Forgotten Realms DM book next Fall.

Dollars to donuts The Fallbacks feature majorly in the new Campaign Setting books. And this movie may even set up a Vampaign in those books.
