D&D (2024) Alternate GOO Warlock Patron Ideas

Whenever I see “GOO” my first thought is “Grand Ole Opry”. Perhaps the patron could be a lineup of the spirits of dead country & western superstars.

Imagine an intelligent, psionically active slime mold, powerful but limited by its physical form. It might seek out mutually beneficial relationships with other beings to increase its influence in the world.

They’d have a relationship akin to Glen Cook’s Garrett, PI and The Dead Man.*

I always figured Primus was the hivemind of the modrons....

As an aside, but is it just me or is the Arcane in the Arcane Netflix show, really the Void? I think 4e had the notion that modrons came from an extrauniversal realm like the Far Realm but different. It seems to me that you could justify a lot of Borg-like plans as being LN--although a cleric or bard might be better as Herald of Things to Come than a warlock, maybe an alien machine intelligence might not see the difference.

Your Patron's a patch of goo on a bar's floor that hasn't been cleaned for as long as anyone can remember.

Through uncounted years of exposure to highly-magical adventurers it's gained a strange sort of sapience and near-divinity! Or your character might just have gotten drunk and hallucinated the whole thing. Either way they're a Warlock now.

I'm picturing a warlock whose patron is "The Man in Black" - Johnny Cash himself. You can summon ghost riders in the sky or a ring of fire.

Or...get this...you could have your patron being Waylon Jennings. He would narrate your adventures Dukes of Hazzard-style.

Hank Williams as the Drifting Cowboy. Hrm...
