D&D General What is your most prized Dungeons and Dragons Product?

Yeah, this is probably it for me too. When I got it, both versions were available in stores - the one with the licensed IP and the one without. I wasn’t able to drive yet, so my main supplier was my mother. I gave her very specific instructions on which one to get and how to check it. In the end, I have no idea if the first one she found was the right version or if she had to go to more extensive effort, but I was and remain grateful that she fostered my hobby as much as she did. But then, she never was one to fall for Satanic panics. Ban a book and she was more likely to buy it.

Likewise, my parents didn't care one bit about the Satanic Panic. And for that I am grateful.

This thread has been fascinating, seeing what people value in their RPG collections. Frequently, it has nothing to do with monitory value and everything to do with emotional connection.

Boy it is hard to choose one. Probably my original first edition DMG. I own most of the 1e modules, many purchased new off the shelf. I've got the original Ravenloft.

My favorite module is my original D1-D2 Descent into the Depths. For personal nostalgic reasons. I have a cleaner copy but my old battered one is special. It's where I really fell in love with D&D. Those old black and white pictures.

The best third party product for 3e was Book of the Righteous. And while the mechanics are no longer valuable, it is still a great book for building pantheons of Deities and defining domains.

I'm not the 2e lover many of you are as I think the modules were poor. If I had to pick a product I'd probably pick the original FR's setting. I own it.

1e AD&D is where my heart is at when it comes to collecting.

The Book of the Righteous is one of my favorite RPG supplements, period.

The funny thing is, I agree that 2e's modules were poor as game material. Great setting material though, and that was 2e's strength anyway IMO. The lore and mechanical creativity made it my favorite D&D for a long, long time. The Monstrous Manual is still my favorite threatbook.

I really liked Book of the Righteous and was happy to see a 5e version released.

As for official D&D, I'd say Masque of the Red Death got me to reimagine my way of D&D thinking.

Yes and I wasn't really knocking the rules. They were very streamlined and efficient compared to 1e which was needed. I just loved EGG's 1e voice especially in the DMG. I agree on settings.

My first edition mint T1-4 Temple of Elemental Evil.

Honestly, I love all of my older books. I also have the 25th anniversary silver TSR box set.

Encyclopedia Magica set....I have too many to really list.

Currently?

If I had to look at the 2014 line, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, the alternate cover. No longer in print but the lore in this book is worth it for the Drow and Duergar, not to mention the Gith.

Elsewhere, Temple of Elemental Evil from Goodman Games. Historically I previously owned it for AD&D 2e, even though was larely ignorant regarding the Greyhawk setting. Recently purchased ToEE and was surprised I not only got the 5e update but also the previous compiled additions of the modules.
