Dragonbane general thread

especially since banes and boons stack! Conditions can really cause PCs huge problems if not taken care of quickly and what kind of GM would I be if I let them do that! lol
But doesn't each condition only affect one stat? You wouldn't have 2 stacked banes on CON, for example, you'd have a bane on CON and say AGL if I read things correctly? And yes, I know it's on associated skills as well.

Sort of. You only heal one condition per stretch rest and only get one stretch rest per shift rest. So you're dragging most of those conditions around with you all day. And if you have Angry, and the bane on INT skills, getting that shift rest is going to be a pain unless someone else sets up the tent for you.
Ah good point. So basically one condition heal per 6 hours. even if you do it over a stretch.

The player for example must RP Scared, but I think "scared" behavior must be negotiated somewhat with the GM so that it actually has impact.
Eh. You can justify just about any behavior with just about any of the conditions. I think people will run into trouble failing to make a distinction between scared the condition and fear the effect. And how they should be roleplayed. Fear gives you a handy chart of things you must do. Scared requires looking at human behavior. People will do all kinds of weird things when they're scared.

I think I might ask each player directly how it's going to impact them, and we need to jointly agree that it will be a negative effect, not twisted into something that doesn't make sense.

Yes, the CON condition is the only attribute condition that gives you banes on CON rolls, but that's not the only source of banes for your rolls. Any other relevant circumstance can also give you a bane on relevant rolls. The GM is free to impose banes and grant boons based on circumstances.

Good point - we haven't gone deep enough to have adventure added banes but that won't be long I think. 😂

As I said, people do all kinds of weird things in real life when they're scared. I think I've lost interest in policing players' behavior. I'm not interested in the inevitable fight that will produce, I'd rather get on with the game.
And all conditions are healed over a shift, but that requires a safe haven.
You can get a shift rest without a roll in town or make camp in the wilderness with a Bushcraft roll. You just can't sleep in the dungeon, which I love. And the roll to see if the monsters follow you is fantastic.
