D&D 5E Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

If you send out review copies to YTers with no strings attached (other than a date), then don’t expect them to not show some full pages. Except for one YTer the others did not show more than any TTRPG company other than WotC would have had no issues with.

Even if you agree that the one crossed a line, what exactly do you prevent with this? Don’t you think there are much better quality scans available within a few weeks of the product release?

Pirated copies available later doesn't justify anything. Again I'm not that familiar just trying to understand the issue.

The whole "their gonna pirate the books via video" seems like nonsense to me. Who would take the time for such a poor quality product? Also the rules will be released for free via SRD anyway so why bother?

If I purchase a copy of a book and convert it into a pdf to share online that would also be wrong even if it happens all the time The question is not whether they can share some information it's that they can't share entire pages.
My thoughts on copyright protection are...complex, particularly so when the company gives someone the product for purposes of outsourcing marketing, but fails to specify how they want that product marketed.

Lots of people understand how corporations work. Not everyone find it acceptable.
Compared to what companies like Meta, Amazon and Tesla are doing, I can't get angry at WotC for stock level corporating. And if I did, I'd have a very long list of companies I don't find acceptable (Disney, Time Warner, Nestle, etc).

Then we disagree. I believe in intellectual property rights and being given a product instead of purchasing it makes no difference. People doing reviews are allowed to talk about something and quote or showing small bits and pieces here and there no matter what they are reviewing. I have no idea if this was just some copyright lawyer getting carried away but companies have the right to stop people from giving away their product for free.

Hi. I had a pirated scan of the PHB in August that every page was from the Dungeon Dudes (I think) Livestream. It was readable enough until my copy of the book came and I got rid of it.

they can, happens all the time for tons of TTRPG products, and no one but some overzealous lawyer at WotC had an issue with it

Fair enough. Happy to agree to disagree here. I think IP law is far too onerous as it stands.

If I got upset with every company that did something I disagreed with I would be a very upset puppy about just about every company I buy stuff from.
