Orogs, who I have consistently confused for Ogrillons in my games, (somewhere along the lines I got the names swapped in my head) are apparently now "berserkers", according to the conversion guide. So just orc barbarians, I guess?

They were just higher CR "Uruk Hai" Orcs, so a higher CR NPC makes sense.

Azur, I can get behind but Merfolk? Aaracocra? LIZARDFOLK?

It pains me to say, I did not think the MM would be the one that would completely miss the mark for me.

I'm with you on the Lizardfolk. It's a mighty stretch.

But I find it one that I can really, very easily ignore for my games, so I'm not remotely bothered by it beyond a "Ha! Whatever, WotC! Pshaw!" - sort of response.

Can you give a quick glance to the lore sections for Lizardfolk and Aarokocra? Is there any explanation for why they got changed?

"Half-breed" as a concept is kind of gone from the core rules now.
