And obviously, ONLY MEN can sacrifice for their loved ones...

Piffle on that argument, I say.

It seems pretty obvious that this movie does not start on Earth-199999, just from the visuals. The FF's world doesn't match the MCU-Earth esthetic.

Where it ends, goodness only knows.

If that climax is against Galactus... not likely. In the comics, when Ben and Johnny tried to fight Galactus, they just... bounced off. As was appropriate.

We all know how the FF beats Galactus the first time out - The Watcher sends Johnny Storm to get the Ultimate Nullifier from Galactus' worldship. Threatened with it, the Big G agrees to go away.

You can have a big fight at the initial meeting with the Surfer, ending in the usual team-up when heroes fight. You can have a big fight against G's "Punisher" cyborg....

And you can have a big fight when Dr. Doom tries to grab the Nullifier, which ends in a malfunction that transports them all to the MCU... or however we justify a Doom that has Stark's face...
Wait a minute...Robert Downey Junior is playing DOOM in the MCU?

But the character doesn't exist in the Marvel CINEMATIC Universe yet. You may have noticed that characters in the MCU don't completely conform to characters in the print Marvel Universe in all ways.

Explain why you'd choose to replace a female Marvel character's existing backstory with the backstory of the male version of that character instead of going with the Marvel existing version of that backstory for that character. I'd like to hear why you find that to be a compelling practice, and why you think that's a good idea in the context of an accusation of something being "sexist weak-sauce."

The female Surfer doesn't make that sacrifice in the comics (not even in the What If? version). So it would be a pretty odd change to go with the female version but with the male backstory.

Again, I'm fine with them going with the female version of the character. But, don't make it just a female version of the male character's story. The female version has her own backstory, and she deserves to have her story be told if they're going to use that character. Using the male character's story instead really would be changing her gender just to change her gender, and not to tell a story.
Agreed. Always a concern when I see this kind of swap. I hope they do better.

We have no idea what the backstory will be for this female Silver Surfer.

I know this is how the internet works, but why are people latching on to such a small part of this movie as some kind of hill to die on???

The word is that we will still meet the Norrin Radd version of Silver Surfer at some point (probably when we get to our prime MCU universe)

This female Surfer is the one from the universe the FF are in currently. We don’t know anything beyond that, even though some people are speculating and acting as if it is fact
