Im thinking more along the lines of Yellowstone or America Primeval - showing a darker more grim view of western expansion. I thought those shows were doing okay

Yeah the Yellowstone thing has done well.

Might lack global appeal though. Very American.

Remember what I said about genre fusion? How about:

1) a steampunk/mecha version of High Noon?
2) a Western version of The Taming of the Shrew?* Romeo & Juliette, King Lear and Hamlet could also work.
3) Remaking The Naked Prey as a western could be good if done respectfully
4) The gunfight at the OK Corral, the battle of the Alamo and similar stories could be redone as sci-fi or fantasy tales.






* I saw a local theater group do exactly this 40+ years ago, complete with thick drawls. They KILLED it!
