You're pinning a lot of strong language on people who aren't using such here. Trends, tendencies, and shifts are things too.

The issue is the name. Miss still means "not hit" to the majority of humanity. Why would something without a blast radius have an effect if it doesn't hit? Change the name and it works much better.I don't really get the negative reaction towards Damage On A Miss. If we can accept that Hit Points are a weird amalgamation of luck, stamina, and actual physicality, than grazing attacks make perfect sense. Luck can't last forever, successfully dodging is still draining on your stamina, etc.
The OP does the very thing that you're saying didn't happen. Not following your logic here. I agree with you that 'Trends, tendencies, and shifts are things too'. There is a way to state 'I see a trend/tendency/shift' without resorting to hyperbole though. You're pinning a lot of strong language on people who aren't using such here. Oh no. Not this hp debate again.

There are some things kind of in this direction, though it would be unusual. Not totally unprecedented, just unusual. I can't think of any specific examples off the top of my head. What if it's candy shell, then milk chocolate, then more candy shell, then a center of oozy goo like Bubblicious gum?
GURPS. Layers and layers where each one is radically different from most of the others, but you somehow make it all work together anyway? GURPS.And more important -- which RGP does this describe?
I mean, that's...literally what it is though. The issue is the name. Miss still means "not hit" to the majority of humanity. Why would something without a blast radius have an effect if it doesn't hit? Change the name and it works much better.
