That was the tribute at the beginning of the episode. Really sad, but I don't know how soon he passed away in regards to the scenes.

I'm not sure yet how I feel about them killing Foggy and writing out Karen just to basically replace them with new characters and actors. In episode two, the investigator working for Matt could easily have been Karen, and his partner Foggy.

Oh, totally agree. And I hope that Foggy isn’t actually dead but some sort of undercover job.

I do not think he got Coulson'd. I think he is gone. After all - it's hardly a kitchen if nobody get fridged. I do not think she was written out of the show though. I think she will be back when the time is right.

Right, I think Karen has more to do further into the season. Plus, Deborah Ann Woll has been reported as being signed on for season 2.
I don't know how accurate things will pan out with IMDB but she's listed as being in 16 episodes (which may be a preliminary guess on their part) but Elden Hansen (Foggy) is listed as being in 1. So, there is that too.

yeah its funny they had foggy in all of the promo interviews and stuff and then.....iced!

But yeah I do think they will bring back Karen, at least I hope they do. I will say I give Deborah Anne some credit on that death scene, like her reaction was brutal and awesome.
