Yeah, my 85-year-old mum loves the action and sci-fi genres (from Reacher, to the Marvel flicks, to the Expanse, etc.).

My mum died before the Reacher TV series, but it’s 100% the type of stuff she liked.

Prevalence has never meant only. I know what is populating the fantasy bookshelves. Cozy and romantasy wouldn't be on Horror and Crime book shelves. The suggestion that these books are an affront came from you not from me.

Because men have been taught that reading romance makes them insufficiently macho, and most are too insecure not to conform (or at least admitting to it).

Yet that still supports my hypothesis that Men seek out different stories than Women. Maybe the foundational reason is due to gender bias but that is not changing how the market bears out. At this current state it is obvious that Men and Women as marketing demographics choose different kinds of stories.

Why is it that the Romance genre has so few male readers?

Because society hasn't insisted that they're expected to read it

Apparently these days people on the internet are asking loudly to "be seen". Its almost everywhere someone complaining about not being seen. So I guess that's a good thing. Thank you.

Correct. Hence why Romance has a very low male readership. And if you meant it as a dig then I guess most people aren't grown ups because marketing works.

My wife Loves reacher. I never said women don't like this kind of thing. I'm not sure what is difficult here.
