Awesome. What about the older editions as mentioned?Hi! We still intend to release SRD 5.2 into Creative Commons, and I can very happily say news about that is coming soon!

I’ll point you here to our SRD announcement last May. Our goal was always to get on the other side of the core rulebook releases and SRD 5.2 before we looked at the older ones.Awesome. What about the older editions as mentioned?
Obviously, this is not on you, but it feels very much like the protests of how much work WotC must do to get the SRDs ready is a ruse or obfuscation.I’ll point you here to our SRD announcement last May. That hasn’t changed as far as I know (it’s not my bailiwick), but I do keep asking because I know how important it is to y’all, and we said we would.
That’s fair. I will say as one of the people who has been working on getting it ready for y’all, there are a not insignificant number of moving parts and things change almost daily sometimes.Obviously, this is not on you, but it feels very much like the protests of how much work WotC must do to get the SRDs ready is a ruse or obfuscation.
In their defence, we get the same complaints about our (much larger!) SRDs. It’s a LOT of work, diverting resources and people from things that pay the bills and keep the lights on. While it is important, I always feel that patience is the best stance when waiting for what is—essentially—free stuff. They’ll get there, just like we will, but I think it’s fair to understand that it can’t be the #1 business priority.Obviously, this is not on you, but it feels very much like the protests of how much work WotC must do to get the SRDs ready is a ruse or obfuscation.
I was referring more to the 3.5 SRD, giving folks a true safe harbor for works dependent on that.In their defence, we get the same complaints about our (much larger!) SRDs. Especially right now! While I’m sure WotC isn’t in as existential a crisis as we smaller publishers are during tariffgate it’s certainly going to be an issue.
Also. You don’t need the SRD to make compatible stuff. The old ones will do just fine, unless your use case for it is to literally just reproduce it. So it’s more a gesture than an actual practical necessity.
Could you explain to me the use case of making a compatible product where the current offerings would not suffice? (Again, other than the use case of simply reproducing it, which I recognise that some character builder or VTT implantations might need to do).I was referring more to the 3.5 SRD, giving folks a true safe harbor for works dependent on that.
I'm not sure I understand the question. Assuming that one wants to make a 3.5 compatible product -- or is currently still selling 3.5 compatible prooducts based on the OGL -- the uncertainty of the OGL remains. The point of putting the 5.1 SRD into CC was to eliminate that uncertainty, no? So I am not sure why it would be different for the 3.5 SRD.Could you explain to me the use case of making a compatible product where the current offerings would not suffice?
