I'm pretty sure most are well aware of the trajectory. Approving of it, however, and being forced to accept it are entirely different things.

One is never forced to accept it. One might have to make many sacrifices to not though.

Interesting topic... considering that we can use AI to generate RPG content for our own use, if publishers are now going to use AI too then the question becomes, why would we still need publishers?
That's how it goes.

First the publishers ask "Why do we still need creators?"

Then the customers ask "Why do we still need publishers?"

Then everybody asks why nobody is making nice stuff any more, and it's all just regurgitated slop, because human creativity has been completely removed from the process.

One of the biggest complaints people have is sifting through all the crap to find quality products that meet their specifications. I can see publishers still having a niche there no matter if ai or people are the creators.

There’s also networking effects, hard to play a group based game when every person has their own unique one they would rather play instead.

I think AI can be used as a tool just like Photoshop, InDesign, Word, etc. I can see a place for it in many areas for WotC and D&D. Do I want adventures written by or art generated by AI, No! However, there are many ways it could be used responsibly and ethically that I would be OK with.
Well, there is some serious ambiguity in the term. Do I mind certain computer aidee tools, like spellcorrect? No. Generative text or art, however, are a hard absolute no.
