God Rules: Players Guide (5e)

I am trying to create a set of rules that can allow 5E to replicate ANY anime/comics/movies/novels/sci-fi/television/videogames or whatever. I know I am going to bend a few official rules along the way because that's the only way I think it can be done, but I believe the end result will be (I hope) be the best epic/immortal rules for anything ever...at least that's my aspiration.
Bending rules is what D&D is all about IMO. I imagine I will bend some of your rules as well! :p

Absolutely amigo, that's what they are there for.

I got about half the Kickstarter 'story' done today, should get that finished tomorrow, but it might not go live til 3 days after I fill in the banking bit...was leaving that until the end then noticed the 3 day delay.

Hired a Miniature Painter on Etsy today, so will post pictures of the finished work when I have them - might be a few days though.

I have decided on the Stretch Goals for the book. But I don't want to add too many pages (because its already at bursting point) so setting the Stretch Goal targets fairly high. So at £25,000 I will add the Divine Rank 8 Lady of ???? to the book. ;)

Had to send an email to Drivethru, their Fulfillment terms are not as linear as I had imagined. They have 3 options:

1. On the Kickstarter I just charge the Profit amount - then Backers get to buy the book at Cost (Printing + Shipping) once the Kickstarter has ended.
2. On the Kickstarter I charge Profit + Printing Amount + Shipping Amount (chosen by backer); then I pay for all the books myself at cost via Drivethru.
3. Same as #2 but a Fulfillment company ships the books - only necessary if I include physical items other than the book itself.

Of those #1 seems to be the simplest and most affordable since Kickstarter only take their 5% from the Profit, not 5% from the Profit+Printing+Shipping. Has anyone here ever backed a Kickstarter using that method?

I was toying with the idea of a Pre-launch backer bonus item, I will see what Drivethru say in their reply but I am assuming that option will only be available if I go with a fulfillment partner, which may or may not be financially viable.

Anyway, so just a heads up, I had the Kickstarter Pre-launch page done (or at least I thought I did), but turns out that was the actual Kickstarter page itself. Luckily enough I didn't activate it. So I need to build the Pre-launch page (largely the same details) but these new Drivethru Options will likely change the Pricing structure if I go with option #1, which ends up changing the Kickstarter page design as well. Once I get a reply from Drivethru should only take a day or so to get the Pre-launch page going. 🤞

Hey all, had a great chat to the Drivethrurpg people (their Publisher support is excellent) and sorted it out.

So the Kickstarter will be the same price for the PDF, the Standard Edition and the Premium Edition...£28 (approx. $35 dollars albeit slightly higher with the current exchange rate about $36.50). I'll keep an eye on the exchange rate I may drop the backer price down to £27.

If you back at the Digital Tier (PDF only), you'll be able to download a free copy via Drivethru.

If you back one of the Physical books, I send you a discounted complimentary copy on Drivethru where you only need to pay the Printing & Shipping costs.

E.g. Lets say you buy the Standard Colour Hardback, £28 to back the Kickstarter, then the book is $34* to print + shipping (which is $6 in the USA for standard delivery and $17 for tracked and signed).

If you wanted the glossy Premium Colour Edition, again just £28 to back, but then that book is around $56* to print + then choose your shipping option.

*Approximate costs. My exact page count is still in flux but it is definitely over 400 pages and almost certainly under 450 pages. I'll try and hit a multiple of 16 (since that helps with binding) so probably 416, 432 or 448 pages. I may need to add a few pages with Stretch Goals.

Drivethru are saying there is a minimum 6 week turnaround from me giving them the finished files until backers can order the physical book. Therefore if I get the Document finished for July 1st (the penciled in start date of the Kickstarter) the physical books will likely start shipping mid August. No such delays on the pdf and any Physical backers also get the pdf.

However, if I do add extra pages via Stretch Goals then I am guessing physical copies might be delayed until 6 weeks after the new material is added.

I'll get to work on the Kickstarter Pre-launch now and hopefully have that sorted either today or tomorrow.
