That doesn't make any sense. Nentir Vale is a SINGLE VALLEY about the size of the Bighorn Basin in central Wyoming, more or less. It's not a planet. It's a vale. With pretty temperate climate. Did you read Chris Perkins' post? The original plan was to put Nentir Vale in FR. When they changed their mind, they no doubt created some vague context around it, including Nerath and that big map that had almost nothing labeled or explored, but that's NOT Nentir Vale. That's a handwavey attempt to pretend like Nentir Vale existed in a larger context which was never actually developed, just hinted at.I dont think Nentir Vale can be on Forgotten Realms Toril, because the Nentir Vale planet is so small. The distance between arctic pole and equator is small.
That said, if approximating Nentir Vale somewhere on Toril, I would put it in a less explored region of the arctic, such as north from the Northern Wastes, then have its 'equator' be a volcanic or magically warm area.
The Forgotten Realms is Faerun. It's pretty clear that when Chris Perkins said that they were going to put Nentir Vale in the FR, they were going to put it in the FR that everyone knows, not some weird spergy parlor trick corner of the setting that only the superfans have ever heard of and is deliberately kept separate from the main bulk of the setting. From a marketing perspective, anything else would have been stupid beyond all reason. So the exercise I'm asking about is not "look for some weird place that nobody knows or cares about to stick Nentir Vale in so that it doesn't actually happen to really be in the Forgotten Realms at all except on a technicality" I'm asking, "where in the real Forgotten Realms would it best fit.The forgotten realms is set in Abeir-Toril. The setting has two planets, in the same way that Eberron kind of has thirteen planets.
What's the difference between putting it in Abeir and putting it in Osse, really? At least you can kinda square the lore of Arkhosia with that of Abeir, and anywhere there's humans there's gonna be tieflings.
mass = "4ce" x acceleration?What would be "4e game physics?"
That actually works really, really well too.Ooh, the “Great Dale”. Just rip that out and put Nentir Vale there.
Nentir Vale is a small area. However the "Nentir Vale setting" aka the Points Of Light setting, aka the Axis setting, normally assumes this, where Nentir Vale is in the region of Nerath:That doesn't make any sense. I clearly know that since the post that you responded to had me saying that already. Also, the OP has Chris Perkins saying that Nentir Vale was originally going to be put in the Forgotten Realms. Your focus on the "planet" is a non sequitur and a red herring. It has nothing whatsoever to do with putting Nentir Vale in the Forgotten Realms. He didn't say anything about putting Nerath, and that whole map (about which almost nothing was ever developed) into the Forgotten Realms. He said "The Nentir Vale is part of Nerath, although it was originally designed to be dropped into the Forgotten Realms." Obviously—or at least I thought so—that meant that ONLY Nentir Vale was meant to be dropped into the Forgotten Realms, and Nerath and the rest was only named and referred to vaguely after the decision was made NOT to put Nentir Vale in the Forgotten Realms.Nentir Vale is a small area. In 4e, "everything is core". These elaborations for the geographical context of the Nentir Vale locale are core for the 4e default setting.I clearly know that since the post that you responded to had me saying that already.
Of course, DMs can create and modify any setting.Also, the OP has Chris Perkins saying that Nentir Vale was originally going to be put in the Forgotten Realms.
