RPG Gear: Playing cards

I really like my Savage Worlds Oversized Action Deck published by Pinnacle Entertainment. Sadly they're no longer in stock at their store - not even sure they're still being published. What I appreciate them the most for, is when running the SWADE-styled chases. I have a number of players that like having minis at the table, and you can easily fit a good number of them on an oversized action card. I've even had minis for airships, aircraft, spaceships and autos on them. Much nicer IMO than just putting tokens on the cards, because the minis better depict the actual PC or vehicle. So PC or vehicle recognition is easier, players make less mistakes moving the wrong token and the chases run a wee bit faster. Not to mention, thery're really nice looking cards. (y)

PEG currently has a Sci Fi Action Deck, a Deadlands Noir Action Deck, Legends of Ghost Mountain Action Deck, Horror Companion Action Deck, Fantasy Action Deck, a Holler Action Deck, a Flash Gordon Double Action Deck. All oversized cards.

Just not one for Lost Colony :(

That link seems to be going to the deck they made for Savage Worlds Deluxe, the previous edition of the game. They have a deck made for SWADE at Savage Worlds Over-Sized Action Deck (SWADE) | Pinnacle Entertainment Group.

Yup, I'm aware of the SWADE era oversized decks.. However, when I physically checked them out at a LGS, while larger than a regular set of playing cards, they weren't as large as my SWD oversized deck. When Peginc called the SWD Oversized deck oversized, they weren't kidding - the cards are big! I use a regular SWD Action deck (about the size of the newer SWADE OS decks) for initiative, because my SWD OS cards are too big. I wish I could measure one to post the card dimensions, but they're in storage due to me currently only running SW via VTT.

Starting up a new campaign, running Savage Worlds, which uses a deck of playing cards as mechanical support in a few places.

While I have playing cards around the house, this struck me as an opportunity. Folks get special dice and dice storage, GM screens, tneire gamign tables. But how about playing cards - a thing I can expect players to interact with pretty much every session.

So, give me your sources for cool playing cards!
Nintendo's got both a Mario themed and a Legend of Zelda themed deck, both on acetate cards. Water (and soda) proof.

I used the Zelda deck when running Deadlands.

on the cheap side, ACE makes a $6 deck of acetate cards with a nice clean look. VERY durable.

and a warning: the hoyle transparent deck rapidly starts to wear; it's paint on acetate, and not the kind of burns-itself-into-the-card kind used by KEM, ACE, Carta Mundi, and Nintendo. Not good value for money.

Got one of the transparent/clear decks myself for use (mostly) for my one shot GMfull game God-Killer Prophecy. It requires two decks of cards, one for the Dark God and one for the heroes to share -- it helps if one of the deck is pretty obviously different. I just saw it at a Canadian Tire and snapped it up.

I also used it during a playtest of Fabrication: A game that makes games. where we made a mechanic involving layering different decks for different players ecosystem (nano-bio wars was a fun game to work on mechanics for). The transparent deck was one of the three we used.
